Keeping your body hydrated is one of the best ways to ensure good health. We are all aware of the importance of drinking enough water – but many of us are not aware of how storing and consuming water effets the quality of drinking water.
Because water has memory, the chemical and molecuar balance of water is affected by how we store and consume water; affecting our health, wellbeing and balance of energy.

Copper – an essential nutrient for all living cells

Traditional principles of Ayurveda have long practiced and prescribed the additional benefits of storing and drinking water from copper vessels. Copper bottles supercharge water with copper ions. Copper is necessary for maintenance of many bodily systems.

Copper is an essential mineral that offers many health benefits to your body. Copper bottles have been used throughout history for centuries. In Ayurveda, copper bottles are used to store water overnight (8 hours) and drink on an empty stomach to help balance your three doshas in the body and maintain good health. The objective of Ayurveda is to protect the health of the body - according to Ayurvedic principles copper balances all three doshas or elements in our body (Vata, Pitta, Kapha).

Copper is not produced in the body so we need to get it from external sources. On average, the human body needs 0.9 mg of copper per day. Using copper bottles can help your body get its recommended daily dose of copper. This can help your body by keeping is strong and healthy.
Whilst we are able to get copper from many food sources in our diet, adding the practice of drinking water from copper bottle will not put you at risk of too much copper in your body.

Copper has Antibacterial Property to Detox Body

Copper has strong antibacterial properties. Many hospitals now use copper in ICU wards to reduce infections. The earliest recorded medical use of copper was around 4500 years ago - before use of antibiotics, copper was used to steralise water and wounds. Today many of us wear copper bracelets for the healing properties of copper.
In 2012, researchers kept water in a copper container for up to 16 hours and observed there were significantly fewer harmful microbes. Another extensive study from the University of South Carolina found the copper surfaces used in ICUs kill up to 97% of the infection causing bacteria in hospitals.

Copper has a positive impact on drinking water. Copper is a known natural sterilizer. It has an oligodynamic effect on the water. This means that copper kills bacteria and other microorganisms that are present in the water and gives you clean and healthy water to detox your body.
You can also use water stored in copper vessel to water your plants, animals and use in your cooking or to make tea and other beverages such as smoothies and juice.

DO NOT consume flavoured, acidic or carbonated drinks from your copper bottles or glasses.
DO NOT use copper vessels if you have copper toxicity

  12. Overcomes Iron Deficiency and Anaemia – Copper is an essential mineral to aid in iron absorption.

Why is it Important to Store Water in Copper Bottle?

Because Water has Memory!

Modern science has proven that water has memory – water accepts and saves any outside energy. It “remembers” anything that happens in its surrounding environment, and anything that comes in contact with water leaves a “mark” in it.

Thoughts and events create positive and negative energy and water has the ability to take on this energy with it’s memory.
Scientific studies have shown that water, not only has memory but its structure is affected by the emotions of people. The water molecules change their position when they interact with positive or negative emotions. The structure of water is more important than its composition. Scientists concluded that water molecules act as memory cells and record the entire history of interaction with the outside world.

Because water has memory, we must take care with how we store and consume water.
Drinking water straight from a tap carries negative energy – the stress of the violent journey water has passed through the multiple bends and forceful pressure of pipes.

Whilst the chemical structure of water does not change, the molecular structure of water changes with this forceful negative memory. But by storing water in a copper vessel, we are able to undo this damage and restore the water to it’s natural state and enhances the positive energy of water to help the body cleanse and rejuvenate.
Storing and consuming water in a copper vessel, allows the water to acquire qualities from the copper, which are very good for overall energy and health, and keeps the water at the right temperature and state for a healthy body and mind – to enhance energy, ability to learn and grow, and transcend into spirituality.
According to Ayurveda, drinking copper-enriched water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps balance all three doshas (Kapha, Vata and Pitta).

“If it comes from the East, it’s superstition. If it comes from the West, it’s Modern Science” – Sadhguru

Why Should You Use Copper Bottles Instead of Plastic or Glass Bottles?

Copper bottles are better for your health when compared to plastic bottles. Even in Ayurvedic practices, copper vessel has been used to store water since ages. This is because copper is one of the essential minerals required by your body.

70% of our body is water – if we manage the energy of our water, we can have profound positive impact on our health and wellbeing.
Using plastic or glass bottles can be harmful for our health in the long run.
Storing water in plastic bottles can be harmful for our health, as the chemical Bisphenol A or BPA and Phthalates, are transferred to the water. These chemical elements, present in all plastic bottles and is linked to a number of diseases and various forms of cancer, as it disrupts the body’s reproductive, endocrine and neurological functioning.

Copper also influences the chemical balance in the water. However, this does not harm the body in any way, but in fact, has a number of benefits. Copper acts as a natural sterilizer with ability to destroy a number of harmful pathogens thatare commonlyfound in drinking water, due to it’s oligodynamic effect on water stored in it.
Copper is an element needed by the body and drinking water stored in a copper vessel supplies our body’s daily copper requirement. Copper also keeps water naturally cool – at the ideal temperature for consumption and benefit the body, mind and soul.

An unlike a glass bottle, a copper bottle will not break, and can last a lifetime – as long as you don’t lose it!

The Science of Ayurveda

Ayurveda ‘the Science of Life’ is a holistic system of medicine of India, which evolved from sages of Ancient India some 3000 to 5000 years ago. These principles that are derived from universal laws of nature have withstood the test of time.
Ayurveda believes five basic elements ‘Pancamahabhutas’ manifest in the human body as three basic ‘Tridoshas’. These five basic elements are air (vayu), space (akasha), fire (agni), water (jala) and earth (prithvi), and the three doshas are Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

The 5 fundamental elements overlap each other and continually fluctuate. All animal, plant, mineral and human physiology have a unique combination of these five elements.

  • Space (akasha) is unbounded and infinite, and manifests awareness.
  • Air (vayu), is light, cool and moves quickly. Air is connected to thoughts and movement.
  • Fire (agni) is hot, powerful and transformational. Fire is connected to metabolism, digestion, blood and hormone functions.
  • Water (Jala) is cool, moist, flowing, but heavy.
  • Earth (prithvi) has qualities of solidity, density, and groundness.

Specific combinations of the 5 fundamental elements combineto make the three doshas (tridoshas).

  • Vata is a combination of air and space.
  • Pitta is a combination of water and fire.
  • Kapha is a combination of earth and water.

Ayurveda is based on balancing the 3 doshas.

Dosha means ‘force’ or ‘fault’, which can easily go out of balance leading to disorders of the body and mind.

According to Ayurveda, drinking copper-enriched water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps balance all three doshas (Kapha, Vata and Pitta).
All yoga practice works on the five elements of Space, Air, Water, Fire and Earth.
If any element is out of balance, disease and suffering may occur. Yoga and Ayurveda help purify these elements and restore balance and health.

How to Properly Clean or Maintain Your Copper Bottle

Your bottle is made from pure food grade copper, so it is wonderfully light.
Over time your bottle will age beautifully and darken to a new hue. This is all part of its ageing process, as Copper is a metal, which means that it is prone to some amount of oxidation.
You can wash your copper bottle by hand with dishwashing soap.
